AC and DC Power
Zipa offers an AC or DC power option, sporting a Telcom standard DC power plant..  Our data center is located on the 10th floor of a 28 story building in New Orleans. However, the facility has its own power feed directly from the largest energy company in the region. The power source is completely independent of the building's power, providing added reliability and security.  The main power comes in to our facility directly from the outside transformer. Total incoming power is 480V and 4000 AMPS. This is a tremendous amount of power and could support an expansion of over double our current space size.
A benefit of providing both AC and DC power is it adds redundancy for our customers. Custom Servers can be built to have dual power supplies, one running off of AC the other DC. If all the AC were to fail (this includes the UPS and the generator) the DC would be unaffected. In some applications DC power is preferred so Zipa's facility offers conveniently engineered overhead DC power cabling. One such application is Telecommunication and switching equipment.
